If making a change or canceling a reservation during our Spring Break, Summer Season, Fall Break or Winter Holidays, please call the office during business hours, as we do issue a cancellation confirmation email. In order to avoid a deposit forfeiture, you must call and cancel or make any changes to your reservation as follows:
We truly understand when things happen beyond your control that affect your booking here at Winding Creek. When you reserve a run or a condo for your pet at Winding Creek, you are promising us that you will use that space and over major holidays / busy seasons, we require a deposit upfront to guarantee that promise and have a cancellation policy in effect. In return, that reserved space is yours and yours alone. We do not overbook runs, nor do we place dogs or cats together from different families.
We plan staffing and scheduling based on your reservations and we do require ample notice of any changes that affect our operations. When we are booked to capacity, we do offer a waiting list option for potential reservations, but once we get close to a given holiday or summer weekend, those on the waitlist have already made other arrangements. When you cancel within the policy window, we are left with empty runs over major holidays, which are traditionally our busiest time of the year. For these reasons, there are no exceptions to our cancellation policy and there are no extenuating circumstances that will exempt you from our policies.

Click Here for an explanation of how we decide & why we require vaccines for our boarding guests.
Note regarding vaccinations: If we can not confirm vaccinations were given by a licensed veterinarian, we will not be able to board your pet. We do not accept vaccinations done by breeders or pet owners (even if the owner is a nurse or medical physician). Vaccinations must be done by a licensed veterinarian.
Click Here for a link to our articles page to read an excellent editorial written by a local veterinarian, explaining the risks of home vaccination on your pets.
We strongly encourage you (or your Veterinarian) to fax or email us your pet's vaccination records well before boarding. This allows us to enter the vaccination data into our system and gives us time to call either you or your veterinarian if we find something missing. It is always the pet owner's responsibility to ensure the pet's vaccinations are current. Even after faxing / emailing (or asking the veterinarian to fax / email) over records, it is a good idea to call us and confirm that your pet's vaccinations are up to date. This is especially important when checking in on Sundays or around holidays when your Veterinarian's office may not be open. If a vaccination is missing, and we are unable to call or confirm with your veterinarian for clarification, we will be unable to board your pet.
Our dedicated fax number is 770-725-2829 and our dedicated email is windingcreekkennels@gmail.com
All pets will be given a brief pre-entry check upon arrival. Anything unusual should be brought to our attention (i.e. bumps / lumps, open sores, stitches, limping, ear / eye issues, allergies, recent illnesses or surgeries, etc).
During the pre-entry check, if fleas or ticks are found, we will need to treat your pet prior to entering the kennel or cattery at an additional cost.
The pre-entry check performed by our kennel personnel is superficial only and not intended to replace a physical exam performed by your veterinarian or imply medical judgments.
All of our guests receive daily attention and generous amounts of tender loving care from our staff. Our canine accommodations are large indoor / outdoor style suites where your dog will have it's own covered outdoor enclosure with plenty of room to exercise and play. Our Feline accommodations have 3 levels and are also very roomy. For a nominal fee we do offer additional activities such as:
Individual Play Times - Canine guests enjoy running and romping in our large, enclosed play areas. They can see their canine friends in other play areas, and even run up and down the fence with them, but they do not share their personal play area with anyone else during their playtime. Feline guests enjoy private play sessions in our large, sunlit cattery and outdoors in our fully-enclosed cat play area - the Catio! Our cats love the large kitty jungle gyms, scratching & climbing posts, and wide assortment of kitty toys.
Nature Walks - Active dogs love going for long hikes around our 36 acre property. Our nature trail winds through scenic woods and pasture and our dogs have plenty of room to run and enjoy the sights on a 22 foot flex lead with a dedicated one-on-one handler. For safety, we can only walk two dogs at a time.
Half Nature Walks - Designed for our less active guests, our shortened 15 minute nature walks are great for small dogs and senior pets who crave lots of one-on-one love & attention.
Super Play Times - Tailored to the die hard tennis ball or frisbee retriever - the Super Playtime is one-on-one time with your dog and a staff member in one of our large enclosed play areas, playing your pet's favorite games. Similar to our Super Play Times, Agility Play Times are great for the dogs who love to show off their tricks! It adds the option of a tether ball and agility equipment to the one-on-one play time.
Brushing Sessions - Our Brushing Sessions are great for getting out thick undercoats and taming wild manes. A gentle, one-on-one brushing session is also a great social and confidence building activity for dogs and cats with shy or nervous temperaments. If your pet is prone to matting or you do regular brushing sessions at home, we would encourage you to continue those regular brushing sessions while boarding for coat maintenance. *We do not cut /shave /demat hair.
TLC Time - Our TLC Time is a great option for Senior pets that need extra love and attention or for the pets that would not benefit from walks or playtimes.
Photo Time - Our Photo Time is a personalized photo taken of your pet by our staff and sent to your email during their stay!
WCK Treat Options:
FrostBite & MeowBite Frozen Treats - Your dogs and cats can enjoy a refreshing frozen treat formulated for the discerning palate and made in house with love by our staff. Ed & Joan's canine "kids" conducted extensive taste-testing on our invention, and the results were unanimous - Torre, Aurum and Thor give their FrostBites a 5-paw rating and highly recommend them to all their canine friends at Winding Creek Kennels. For our feline guests, our MeowBites are a fun frozen morsel to enjoy while boarding. Our FrostBites and MeowBites are not only delicious, they are also nutritious! These frozen treats are made fresh every day with 4 simple, all-natural, ingredients, contain live active yogurt cultures, and can be enjoyed year-round!

We feed each of our boarders twice a day, morning & evening, and meals are served in fresh stainless steel bowls provided by us. For Dogs, our in-house dry food is Diamonds Natural All Life Stages Chicken & Rice Formula; we also carry Bil-Jac semi-moist, various canned foods, and we make fresh chicken & rice daily. For Cats, our in-house dry and canned food is Fancy Feast.
Meals are included for each of our boarding guests and our kitchens are fully stocked with everything we need. If you wish to keep your pet on its regular diet from home, you are welcome to bring food if you choose. Most of our dog boarders eat our food when in our care, but we encourage you to bring food from home if your pet is on a veterinarian prescribed diet, has food allergies, or has a history of a sensitive stomach.
If you choose to bring your pet’s food from home, we ask that you follow the guidelines below:
We do have the ability to refrigerate / freeze and defrost special diets for our guests. There is no need to bring measuring spoons, cups, scoops, mixing utensils, can openers, etc, as we have all these items on hand in our kitchens.
While there is typically no charge for administering owner provided food, a small charge may apply to more complicated diets; please speak to someone in our office for further information if your pet has any special feeding concerns.
If a friend, neighbor, or relative is dropping your pet(s) off for you, please be sure to call the office prior to your reservation date to discuss your pet's dietary needs and go over any additional feeding instructions.
In the event that your pet is not eating well for any reason, we will attempt to add in things to your pet's meal to encourage them to eat. It is imperative that you share any food allergies or limitations with us in advance and have a plan in mind for if your pet does not eat well.

- Owner provided food must be kept in a hard, air tight, sealed container (do not bring us the food in the original bag!). Containers such as pet food containers or large Tupperware containers are recommended. No Ziplock baggies. Canned food can be brought in the original cans, but you must provide your own can lids for sealing. Please DO NOT bring pre-portioned meals!
- We require the specific brand AND flavor of dry and / or canned food that we are feeding your pet written down for reference.
- At Check-In, we will go over specific feeding instructions for your pet(s). We use standard measuring cups and offer fresh food twice a day.
- Always bring enough food for several days beyond pick up date on the off chance that you can not check out when originally planned. Never bring just enough food.

Medications, Supplements & Health Care: Any medications / supplements (including injections and infusions) that your pet requires can be continued during his or her stay with us.
At Winding Creek, we take medications / supplements of any kind very seriously and we do not put medication / supplement doses in with your pet’s meals – we will always administer them separately to ensure accurate and timely dosing.
We ask that all medications / supplements be brought to us in the original prescription containers, with the dosage instructions on them. Please provide enough medications / supplements to cover additional days past your scheduled check-out date in the event that you are delayed.
Please do not bring medications in a plastic bag, envelope, pill box, or other unmarked container (this includes vitamins, supplements, etc). We need to know exactly what we are giving your pet: name of medication, strength & dosage. We do have the ability to refrigerate medications as needed. For injections or infusions, please be sure to bring a fresh needle for each administration.
If your pet has a medication that requires it to be injected, we always want to be as accurate as possible when administering the medication so when providing syringes, please confirm that the syringes have the correct amounts needed (I.E. If your pet is getting 10.5 Units of insulin, we would require the needles to have measurements for half dosages).
If any of your pets medications are in a glass bottle, be aware that there is a chance that the bottle can be broken due to any number of things such as, getting knocked over, dropped, etc. We always try to always be very careful with any of your pets belongings but accidents can happen.
There is a nominal charge for the administration of medications and / or injections. This includes any over the counter / supplements that you would want us to give your pet(s).
If a friend, relative, or neighbor is dropping off for you, please call the office prior to your reservation date to go over your pet's medication instructions. To ensure accuracy, we always prefer to speak directly to the owner when taking medication information and directions.
We have veterinarians on call 24 hours a day to respond to any emergency health concerns of our guests. Winding Creek’s owners live on the premises in addition to our full time on-site animal caretakers, further ensuring the safety and welfare of your pet at all times. We treat all our canine and feline guests as if they were our own children!
Toys are always welcome. We encourage you to bring a few items from home to help make your pet feel more comfortable while boarding. Please try to select toys that you think your pet will not shred or destroy. Please do not bring butcher type hard bones that are greasy and still contain some food particles, hard bones that are already broken, or any articles of clothing.
Our staff love to pass out treats to our boarding guests - so we always encourage you to bring treats from home. Treats are given to our boarding guests several times a day, but we do not specifically schedule them. We typically give them during meal times, after activities, when our late night staff come over, etc, but we cannot always give them at the exact same times you do at home.
When bringing treats for dogs, we just ask that you bring them in a sealable zip lock baggie (Quarts or Gallon baggie). Please do not bring treats in an open air box that cannot be sealed or in an oversized container that may not fit in your pet's basket. For cats, you may bring treats in the original container, bag or box.
Premium bedding and blankets are provided for all of our canine and feline guests. For sanitary purposes, we ask that you do not bring your pet's own bedding, pillows or beds. Our dogs are supplied with a raised platform, called kennel decking, designed to keep them off the cement, and our own very comfortable, machine washable, soft bedding and large quilted blankets. For our cats, we also use the washable soft bedding.

For cats, we require the use of a pet carrier to transport your cat safely to and from our office.
Our guests get very excited to arrive at Winding Creek and easily forget their leash manners -- if you need extra help getting your dogs out of your vehicle, please don't hesitate to call us and let us know you've arrived. You can wait in your car and our staff members will meet you outside to help unload your pets and their belongings safely! We are also more than happy to assist you at pick-up as well!
